The Waterboys – “Before The World Was Made” (2011)

Den irländska dramatikern och poeten William Butler Yeats fick nobelpriset i litteratur 1923.

Mike Scott och hans grupp hade tagit sig an poeten redan tidigare, som med tolkningen av “The Lost child”. Men den här gången så bestod hela albumet av tolkningar av Yeats.

Dikten har tolkats av flera, bland andra Van Morrison och Carla Bruni. Här sjunger Mike Scott duett med den irländska sångerskan Katie Kim. Jag tolkar dikten som ett sökande efter något konstant och tidlöst i en förgänglig värld.
