Lou Reed – ”Andy’s Chest” (1972)
Vi växlar över till bröstsim.
Sången skrevs av Lou Reed redan 1968, influerad av mordförsöket på Andy Warhol (av Valerie Solanas). Velvet Underground spelade in låten 1969 men det var först på Reeds soloplatta Transformer som den definitiva versionen tog sin form.
På Wikipedia kan man läsa mer om bakgrunden:
”This song is a tribute to Reed’s mentor and lifelong friend Andy Warhol.The title indicates to the substantial scar across Warhol’s chest (the shot went through both lungs, spleen, stomach, liver, and esophagus) and also refers to Warhol’s factory, a fantastic menagerie of bizarre, wonderful and precarious characters that the song’s surreal lyrics describe.”
Nu vet vi ju också att Andys och Lous relation var långtifrån problemfri. Något som nog också går att spåra i låten (”And if the last time you were here, things were a bit askew”).
