Bessie Smith – ”Backwater Blues” (1927)

Bessie skrev egentligen låten efter en stor översvämning av Cumberland River 1926. Men framför allt blev låten ett “anthem” efter den ännu större översvämningen av mississippi-floden året efter (jag har ju redan postat Newmans låt om samma katastrof).
