Nina Simone – “Stars, live at Casino, Montreux” (1976)
Simone tar sig an Janis Ians vackra ”Stars”
Låten handlar om baksidorna med kändisskap. Något som Nina visste mycket om. Hon brottades med mycket under sin karriär och det verkar ha blivit ännu värre under hennes senare år.
Hon sjunger ut sin sorg i låten och lägger också till egna rader på slutet. Vid det här laget dalade karriären och den psykiska hälsa. Hon hade för flera år sedan lämnat sitt hemland bakom sig (till stor det på grund av rasismen där) och skulle aldrig flytta tillbaka.
